Sorhagenia reconditella

Sorhagenia reconditella is a butterfly (moth ) from the family of Chrysopeleiidae.

Features

The moths reach a wingspan of 8 millimeters. They resemble Sorhagenia rhamniella, but are smaller and the light gray stain on the fore wings is unclear. The hind wings are pale. A reliable differentiation is only possible through a genital examination.

In the male the uncus is very short. The Valven are twice as long as the ampulla with the cucullus. The ampulla is slender and bent in the middle. The saccule is long and slender and almost twice as long as the cucullus. He is slightly widened distally, has a rounded apex and two humps on the Costa. The juxtaposition is short and parallel walls, the Vinculum is wide. The aedeagus is very short. The eighth sternite is square and provided with rows of bristles that are slightly curved front of the center.

In females, the distal edge of the orifice is round, inside there is a large V-shaped bulge. The lateral protuberances of the genital plate are reduced at the base and short. They expand distally and have some sclerotized ridges. The antrum is slightly curved in the middle. The ductus bursae is twice as long as wide and widens slightly toward the antrum. The corpus bursae is oval, the signals have a curved spine.

Dissemination

Sorhagenia reconditella occurs on Cyprus and the Greek mainland.

Biology

The biology of the species is unknown. Moths were found from mid-May to early June.
