South East Europe Media Organisation

The South East Europe Media Organisation ( SEEMO; German: South East European Media Organization) was founded in October 2000 in Zagreb ( Croatia), the organization's headquarters is in Vienna. SEEMO is built on the desire of the media in the region. Editors and owners of many media have stated that they want an umbrella organization that forms a bridge between the people of the region and international organizations. Founder and Secretary General of the SEEMO since 2000, Oliver Vujovic, former Balkans correspondent for the newspaper Die Presse of Vienna.

DeScripto

Since October 2004 SEEMO publishes a quarterly basis, the English language magazine deScripto, subtitled " A Journal of Media in South Eastern Europe".

The magazine has set itself the goal of supporting a critical reflection of the media in Southeast Europe. Students of Webster University Vienna, the FH - degree program journalism FHWien, and the Journalism Institute at the University of Vienna provide the editors. Editor in Chief Prof. Dr. Thomas A. Bauer. Oliver Vujovic, Secretary General of SEEMO, writes in every edition of his editorial on the media situation in South Eastern Europe.

The annual " SEEMO Award for Better Understanding " honors leading journalists from South East Europe. The prize is awarded by Oliver Vujovic and Erhard Busek ( Stability Pact Coordinator ). So far, received this award:

Projects

  • SMH - Media Handbook - South East and Central Europe Media Handbook: . Annual publication since 2004 to more than 2,000 pages, the layer of media and media landscape in Southeastern and Central Europe described annually, including contact list, web pages and e -mails to all the leading media in South East Europe ( per country between 300 and 600 contacts). Is published in June. Used by its own account by many politicians as the main source of the media situation in South Eastern Europe.
  • SECEPRO - South East and Central Europe PR Organisation: Organisation for leading PR representatives from 24 countries of Southeast and Central Europe, founder Oliver Vujovic, Samra Luckin and Tatjana Cvetkov
  • International Media Center (IMC ) to the Center for Media and education of journalists, Founder: Mitja Mersol ( former editor in chief of the daily newspaper Delo ), Marko Milosavljevic, Thomas Bauer and Oliver Vujovic
  • Hungary Press Freedom: a project to support the freedom of the press in Hungary after the amendments to the media law in 2010 - led by IMC
  • Istanbul Media Days: Annual meeting of media experts from Turkey and abroad in Istanbul ( Turkey) directed by IMC
  • Belgrade Media Days: Annual meeting of media experts from Serbia and other countries of the ex-Yugoslav space and from other countries in Belgrade (Serbia ) led by IMC
  • SEEMF - South East Europe Media Forum: A Project of Oliver Vujovic ( SEEMO ), Andreas Rudas and Mr Kerim. Annual meeting with leading representatives of the media and politicians in South Eastern Europe. Is organized by the SEEMO together with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the WAZ media group since 2007. The first SEEMF was held in Zagreb (Croatia) - participants were about 200 journalists and the then Croatian President Stjepan Mesic. More SEEMF were in Sofia ( Bulgaria), Tirana (Albania ), Budapest ( Hungary) and Belgrade ( Serbia) organized. In 2012 SEEMF was organized as a project of IMC, SECEPRO, SEEMO, KAS and CEI in Budva, Montenegro.
