South Lake Tahoe is a city in El Dorado County in the U.S. state of California, United States, with 24,000 inhabitants ( as of 2004) and is located on Lake Tahoe.

The geographic coordinates are: 38.94 ° N, 119.98 ° West. The metropolitan area has a size of 42.7 km ² and is located on U.S. Highway 50 and California State Route 89
