South Region (Cameroon)

South ( Sud French or English South ) is a region of Cameroon with capital Ebolowa.

Geography

The region lies in the south and is bordered to the north by the Central Region in the northwest to the region Littoral, in the northeast and east by the Eastern Region, on the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the south by Gabon, on the southwest by Equatorial Guinea and the South East to the Republic of Congo.

Political Structure

The region is divided into 4 districts. In the table below, each district is assigned to the district capital.

History

The region ( province until 2008 ) was established in 1983 with the division of the province of Central South ( Centre- Sud / Centre- South ) in the provinces of the center and south.
