South Sudanese general election, 2010

The presidential elections in South Sudan in 2010 found place from 11 to 15 April 2010 and were the first presidential elections in more autonomous, independence aspiring South Sudan at all. They were carried out simultaneously with the elections for the president of the general government of Sudan and the election of governors of the ten Southern Sudan states.

As a result, the previous leader of the Sudan People's Liberation Army and de facto ruler of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, sworn in on 21 May 2010 as the first elected president of the autonomous South Sudan.

Some candidates withdrew their candidacy for the elections so late back that their names appeared on the ballots despite retreat and they were cast. The elections were held simultaneously with the presidential election for the government, with parliamentary elections for South Sudan and the governor elections for the states of South Sudan.
