Space frame

A lattice framework is a space frame, which mainly is used in the aerospace and automotive industry. Alexander Graham Bell developed in the early years of the twentieth century space frame for the first aircraft, for example, the AEA Silver Dart.

Grid frames are used as chassis of automobiles and motorcycles. Typically they are as motorcycle frames now for the motorcycles from Ducati, KTM and MV Agusta. On lattice frame -building sports cars were as the Mercedes -Benz 300 SL, Porsche 550 A, Lotus Seven and the Lamborghini Countach. On the lattice framework of a car body from a light aluminum or plastic is placed, which does not contribute to the stability of the vehicle.

In contrast to the lattice frame, the lead frame is flat, requires much stronger carrier and is therefore heavier. Today he is used in trucks and SUVs.
