Spanglish

Spanglish is one of the Spanish speaking population of the United States ( Hispanics ) hybrid of spoken English and Spanish language. This variety is found mainly in regions where both Spanish and English is spoken, for example, the border between Mexico and the United States, Florida, New York City or Los Angeles. In Spanish, the mixed language is usually called Espanglish, rare Espanglis. In Lusophone space Portuñol denotes the corresponding mixing of Portuguese and Spanish.

Examples of such " spanglishen " are expressions:

  • Llamar para atrás of English callback ( call back ) instead devolver la llamada
  • Te veo of English see you (soon ) as ( soon ) instead hasta luego hasta pronto or
  • No hace sentido of English it does not make sense ( it makes no sense ) rather than no tiene sentido
  • Me voy a la Marqueta of English I am going to the market ( I go to the market ) rather than me voy al mercado
  • Quiero un jamburguer of English I would like to have a hamburger ( I want a hamburger ) instead quiero una hamburguesa
  • Drinquear of English -to-drink ( drink ) instead of beber
  • Priti of English pretty ( pretty, cute ) instead guapa
