The Spanish River is a river that flows through the Algoma District, Sudbury District and the Greater Sudbury in northeastern Ontario, Canada.

It has a length of 338 km. The river originates in the Ember Lake. It flows through the beginning of the lakes Bragh Lake, Lake Frechette, Spanish Lake, Ramsey Lake and Biscotasi Lake to the east. He then turns to the southeast and take the East Spanish River from the left. The Spanish River now flows mainly in the south and ends at the Spanish place in the North Channel east of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron in order.

The river flows almost entirely within the Sudbury District, except brief passages: in the urban area of ​​Greater Sudbury near the communities of High Falls and turbine, and at its mouth, which is located in the Algoma District.

Inflows are Pogamasing Creek, Mogo Creek, Agnes River, River aux Sables, Vermilion River and Wakonassin River.

The river name, and the place names of Espanola and Spanish are derived from French explorers and Jesuit priests who arrived in the area on Ojibwe who could speak Spanish.

The river is mainly used by tourists canoeing. Its upper course is located in the Spanish River Provincial Park. There are four dams along the river course, which serve to generate electricity: One of them, known as Big Eddy, above High Falls forms the Lake Agnew; High Falls Dam - about 1 km downstream of the Big Eddy Dam; Nairn Falls Dam - about 12 km downstream of High Falls; another at the Domtar Mill in Espanola.
