Speaker of the Saeima

Saeimas priekšsēdētājs (President of the Saeima ) is the Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Latvia, the Saeima.

The President of the Saeima has served as interim president when the Latvian President dies, is out of the country or is unable for other reasons to the performance of his duties. The President of the Saeima must be elected from among members of parliament at the first meeting of the term.
