Special Accession Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development

The Special Accession Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development ( SAPARD short, German Special Accession Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development ) was one of three instruments of the European Union to support the preparations for accession of the candidate countries in Central and Eastern Europe. It was set up in June 1999 and focused on the field of agriculture. To use it came last in Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia.

The SAPARD program was replaced on 1 January 2007 under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA).
