The Spirits Bay or Piwhane Bay is a 12 km long bay at the northern end of the Aupouri Peninsula at the northern tip of New Zealand. Administratively, the area belongs to the Far North District of Northland Region.

At the western end of the bay is Cape Reinga, take from that of the legend of the Māori spirits of the dead their journey back to Hawaiki.

The bay together with the Tom Bowling Bay a large part of the coast of the northern tip of the North Island of New Zealand. At the eastern end of the bay is Kapowairua, the northernmost settlement in New Zealand, to which also performs the only entrance to the bay. The bay is enclosed on the east by Hoopers Point ( Ngataea ) and the small offshore island Pananehe Iceland. In the bay the small Waitahora opens stream.

In the sea area in front of the bay Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean meet together.
