Splendid perch

Grammatonotus laysanus

The gloss perch ( Callanthiidae (Size: kallos = beautiful, anthias fish = a ) ) are a family of perch relatives ( Percomorphaceae ). It comes in the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, in the eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean at depths of 15 to 500 meters in front.

Features

Gloss perch are similar in shape and colors the anthias ( Anthiinae ). The species of the genus Callanthias be 18 to 60 cm long, those of the genus Grammatonotus eight to 12.8 cm. The fish have a single dorsal fin, tail fin praise are stripped of flags. The lateral line runs along the base of the dorsal fin and ending at the end of the dorsal fin or fins on the tail stem. The dorsal fin is supported by eleven hard jets and nine to eleven soft rays. Along the middle of the flanks attracts a number of scales, which are provided with small pits.
