History

Vaasan Sport was founded in 1939. In 1962, the Hockey department was established, which belonged in 1975 to the clubs who founded the SM- liiga. A year later, the team got off from this.

After the descent Vaasan took part in the Sport Division 1, which in those days was the second league. At the end of the 1991/92 season of relegation to the second division followed in the following years, the association tried to rise from the third to the second division, but he succeeded in 1997. In the deciding match Kari Teräväinen in extra time scored a goal against Kiekko -67 and thus realized the promotion to the second division. 2000, the second division was renamed in Mestis. 2002 was the first men's team in an operating company, the HT Vasaan Sports Oy, outsourced.
