Spronser Lakes

The Spronser lakes ( Laghi di Italian Sopranes ) are a group of high-alpine mountain lakes in the Texel Group in South Tyrol. The ten river are located at the upper end of the Spronser valley in the southeastern part of the mountain range, a sub-group of the Ötztal Alps. They were eroded by glaciers in a relatively limited space at altitudes 2117-2589 m or left behind in the rock of the ancient gneiss, granite gneiss and mica slate. The largest lake is the long lake ( 2384 m), which is enlivened by char. A particularly good overview of the area, which is set in the Texel Group Nature Park under protection, is obtained from the summit of Spronser Rötelspitze ( 2625 m).

The owner of Auer Castle in Dorf Tirol has the fishing rights in the long lake.

The following table provides an overview of the ten lakes with coordinates and information about height, depth and area of the individual waters.
