Sredna Gora ( Bulgarian Средна гора, sinng. Middle forest, or mountain range ) is a chain of mountain ranges extending south of the Balkan Mountains in Bulgaria and in parallel to this in an east -west direction.

Geography

The Sredna Gora ranges from Pancherevodurchbruch east from Sofia to Yambol after. The highest peak is Bogdan by 1604 m. Between Sredna Gora and Balkan Mountains the Rose Valley is located near the town of Kazanlak ( Розова долина ). In the south, the Oberthrakische Plain joins.

History

Several caves and hot springs led people in the planted with oak and beech forests from colonizing around the 5th century. In Panagjurischte a gold and silver treasures of the Thracians was found. Roman ruins can be found in Hisar. The significant for the history of Bulgaria April Uprising started in place Koprivshtitsa in the Sredna Gora.
