St. Mary's Anglican Church Aldermary is a building in central London district of City of London at Bow Lane.

History

The church was greatly damaged during the 1666 Great Fire of London. Although parts of the foundation, the walls and the tower survived the fire, it was largely built by the famous architect Sir Christopher Wren again in the Gothic style. The money for the reconstruction in 1679 donated by Anne Rogers, the niece of the Junkers Henry Rogers of Somerset. Finally, the Anglican church was reopened in 1682.

According to Nikolaus Pevsner, it is one of the most important surviving monuments of the city and the most important church in the country with respect to the neo-Gothic style of the late 17th century. The church was often repaired and restored in recent years. The last restoration was completed in April 2005. Here, only the interior of the church was restored, such as the stucco ceiling. On 21 April 2005 a church service, led by Richard Chartres, Bishop of London, celebrated the completion of the construction work.
