St. Antoni ( emphasis on the " o "; French Saint -Antoine; ? Freiburg Patois Chin t'Anténo / i ) is a municipality in the district of Sense in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. Her name was until 1860 officially Schrickschrot, after the name of the main settlement in the parish church.

Geography

The municipality of St. Antoni is a scattered settlement with many hamlets and farms. These include Niedermuhren, Obermonten (also Obermontenach or Montagny- Dessus called ), Schweni and St. Antoni.

Situated on a hill parish forms the settlement point at about 715 m above sea level. M. The highest point is the Chutz 884 m above sea. Level, the lowest point on Ledeubach below Tutzishaus at the mouth of Muhrenbachs to 615 m above sea level. M.

The municipality covers 16.68 km ², making St. Antoni is in area the fourth largest municipality in the Sense district. The village of St. Antoni itself is on the verge of the branched area.

The municipality borders along the scythe, the Sodbach to Schwenny at 4 km to the Canton of Bern. The rising towards the south area extends from the colline to the subalpine zone. Is correspondingly varied vegetation.

Neighboring communities of St. Antoni are Alterswil, Heitenried, Schmitten, Tafers, Ueberstorf and Wünnewil -Flamatt.

The coat of arms was introduced in 1925 as a result of an error. Yet for twenty years, was then the view of the Freiburg Schultheiss Jean Gambach have founded the Anthony Chapel on the Schrick why the Gambacher Family Crest was awarded in the lower part of the crest of the square. History

At the site of the present village center, there was not a settlement until 1447. It was built only around the over the Bernese recent victory of 1448 was built after the victory of Freiburg Anthony Chapel. From the mid-16th century, the name of the chapel rendered on the site itself

The church today once belonged to the parish Tafers and thus to the old landscape. The site on which the church is built is called Schrick, which means steep. Population

Economy
