The St. Augustine University of Tanzania ( en.: St. Augustine University of Tanzania ( SAUT ) ) is a Roman Catholic private university based in Nyegezi - Malimbe in Mwanza, Tanzania.

The St. Augustine University of Tanzania was founded in 1998 by Anthony Petro Mayalla, Archbishop of Mwanza, as a Catholic university. In 2002 the official state recognition. Precursor was the 1960 built by the Order of the White Fathers Nyegezi Social Training Centre, in 1983 on the initiative of Bishop Joseph Blomjous renamed Nyegezi Social Training Institute ( NSTI ). From 1975 the school was with over 2500 students by Renatus Butibubage under the patronage of the Tanzania Episcopal Conference ( TEC ).

It is named after Saint Augustine of Hippo, the university motto is "Building the City of God ." The campus is located 10 km south of Mzamba in Nyegezi - Malimbe. The approximately 3500 students come mainly from Eastern and Central Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Burundi, Malawi and Zambia).
