St. Ignace Island

St. Ignace Iceland (French Île Saint -Ignace ) is a 274 km ² uninhabited island in Lake Superior.

It is located in Thunder Bay District, Ontario, Canada. The island is located off the northern coast of Lake Superior, between the Nipigon Bay and the main lake.

The island was named by missionaries of the Jesuit Order in honor of their order's founder, Ignatius of Loyola.

The Nipigon Strait separates Iceland from the St. Ignace westerly Black Bay Peninsula. East of St. Ignace Iceland is the Simpson Iceland.

The island is about 20 km from the nearest community, Red Rock, away. The 569 m high Mount St. Ignace is the highest point on the island.
