St. Leger Stakes

The St. Leger Stakes is a horse race for three- year-old mares and stallions being run since 1776 in the English Doncaster in South Yorkshire each year in September through 2937 meters. It is the longest and oldest of the five " British Classic Races". It is also the last race of the British Triple Crown series.

The race was discharged from the army officer and politician Antony St. Leger invented and on 24 September 1776 the Cantley Common in Doncaster for the first time. First winner was an unnamed mare who later received the name Allabaculia. 1778 the race was moved to Town Moor, where it is organized today.

The Jockey Bill Scott get 1821-1846 with nine successes, the most victories in the St. Leger Stakes. His brother John Scott celebrated the most success as a coach with 16 victories. The fastest time ( in Doncaster) succeeded in 2011 Masked Marvel with 3m 00.44s.
