St. Mary's City, Maryland

St. Mary 's City is a village in the south of the U.S. state of Maryland. It lies on the estuary of the Potomac River on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay.

It was founded in 1634 as the fourth permanent English settlement on American soil ( to Jamestown, Plymouth and the Massachusetts Bay Colony ) and placed in the first decades of its existence, the administrative center of the colony of Maryland and the Saint Mary's County dar. 1654 of the county seat in today Leonardtown, 1695 then moved the capital of the colony after Anne Arundel Towne, now Annapolis.
