The Saint Regis River ( alternate spelling: St. Regis River, in Québec: Rivière Saint- Régis ) is a right tributary of the St. Lawrence River in the U.S. state of New York and the Canadian province of Québec.

The Saint Regis River rises east of the Lower Saint Regis Lake in the northwestern foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. It flows through the Lower Saint Regis Lake and continues its course to the north -northwest. The East Branch Saint Regis River flows right side into the river. He now flows in a northwesterly direction, passing Santa Clara and belonging to Waverly Saint Francis Falls. In Winthrop the West Branch Saint Regis River empties into the left side of the river. The Saint Regis River now turns to the north and gradually to the northeast. When belonging to Brasher town of Helena Saint Regis River takes the water coming from the east of Deer River. Further downstream is the belonging to Bombay city Hogansburg on the riverbank. The river crossing about half a kilometer from its mouth opposite the island of Ile Saint- Régis in the Lac Saint -François the border with Canada. On the western shore estuary in Quebec City is the location of the Akwesasne Mohawk Nation reserve in Saint- Régis. The Saint Regis River has a length of 138 km. Its catchment area covers 1384 km ².

Origin of the name

The river was named after the Jesuit preacher Jean François Régis ( 1597-1640 ).
