St. Thomas Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Chicago

The Eparchy of Saint Thomas the Apostle of Chicago (Latin: Sancti Thomae Apostoli Eparchia Chicagiensis Syrorum - Malabarensium ) is an eparchy of the united with the Roman Catholic Church Syro - Malabar Church, based in Cicero in the United States. The local Ordinary is since the founding Angadiath Jacob, who is also permanent Apostolic Visitor of the Syro -Malabar Catholics in Canada.

History

Pope John Paul II founded the Congregation of the Apostolic Constitution on March 13, 2001, the only Eparchy of syromalabarische Catholic Church outside India.

Several communities in the Knananiten are organized in the diocese.
