Stacking (chemistry)

π - π interactions are forces that occur between π - systems of molecules and result from their quadrupole moments.

The π - systems arrange themselves to each other preferably T-shaped or parallel. In a parallel arrangement, charge identical systems stack off axis. In complementary quadrupole (benzene / hexafluorobenzene ), the binding partner stack without offset.

The bond strength is expressed with up to 50 kJ · mol -1.
