The Stade de Franceville is a football stadium with track and field facility in the Gabonese city of Franceville. It is named after the Stade d' Angondjé and Stade Omar Bongo, the third largest stadium of the African country. The plant is also known under the name Stade de la Rénovation. During the African Cup of Nations 2012 six group games and a quarter final will be played in Franceville.

History

The venue with 10,000 seats at that time from the year 2005 and was rebuilt for the African Cup of Nations in 2012 and now holds 20,000 spectators. It is the last stadium of the four venues for the African Cup of Nations in 2012, which was completed and opened five days before the tournament starts. The venue should already be completed in August 2011, but there were delays. On the evening of 16 January 2012, the Gabonese National Football Team Sudan welcomed the opening game. The game ended in a goalless draw.

The current stadium was designed by the architectural firm Studio Serbian Romb. The sports facility is covered by a two-part roof design over the main and opposite stand. About the roof rain water is collected and used for watering the lawn. For the construction of the stadium roof, the Serbian company specialized Amiga Kraljevo was responsible. The stadium, as well as the seats and parts of the roof are decorated in blue, yellow and green in Gabon's national colors. On the edge of a grandstand Hintertorranges perched a video scoreboard and the four towers of floodlights provide lighting during evening games.
