The Stadionul Gaz Metan is a multi-purpose stadium in the Romanian city of Medias. It can accommodate 8,500 spectators and is the sports club Gaz Metan Medias as the venue for home games.

History

The Stadionul Gaz Metan Medias in was built in 1945. Since then, the local club Gaz Metan Medias uses, also founded in 1945, the stadium as the venue for games of football department. This has never Romanian football champions, but came again in 1951, the national cup finals. There, however, it failed to CCA Bucharest. Currently playing the football team Gaz Metan Medias in Liga 1, the highest Romanian league, where in the past season, the seventh place, the best finish in club history, was achieved, thereby Gaz Metan can compete in the UEFA Europa League for the first time. In 2011, the stadium has since also used by Universitatea Cluj, another first division, as its new stadium, which was Cluj arena for 30,600 spectators, still under construction.

The Stadionul Gaz Metan can accommodate 7,814 spectators nowadays. This capacity has been reached within the framework of renovation work in the year 2010.
