The stadium Lia Manoliu was the largest football stadium in Romania.

It was built in 1953 under the name National Stadium and opened on July 31, 1953 at the World Festival of Youth and Students. Until 1990, it was inspired by the Romanian National Day 23 August the name before it was again renamed the National Stadium. In honor of the late Olympic champion in discus throw Lia Manoliu it was named after her in 1998. The last renovation took place in 2002.
