The Vienna Stadlau station is the largest railway system in the 22nd district of Vienna, Donau City, and extends from the Neuhaufenstraße to Hirschstettner road. Apart from the actual train station Vienna Stadlau and the associated station Wien Archduke Karl Strasse it includes the freight stations and Stadlau Stadlau -Nord. Since 2010, there is a station of the metro line U2 here.

History

The Stadlau station was put into operation in 1870; here branch out since then, the Laa Eastern Railway and until 1945 the two Viennese railway connections with Brno and the Marchegger Eastern Railway towards Pressburg, once route of the classic Orient Express. The trains of both lines go from the Vienna Central Station (then South Station / Eastern Railway ) from the 2010 set-aside Stadlauer station building 10.5 km away. ( The Vienna Archduke Karl-Straße bus stop is at kilometer 11,3. ) The construction of the Eastern Railway and in 1875 completed the Vienna Danube regulation, the previously insignificant village Stadlau developed for larger railwaymen and industrial location, which was incorporated in 1904 to Vienna.

New link building

2 October 2010 a new building was opened as transfer hubs connection between the ÖBB trains (S -Bahn line S80 and regional trains ) and the U -Bahn line U2. At the same time the old platforms of the historic station location on the street level were abandoned at the train station. The newly constructed platforms are further south at the Kaiser mill road and are each designed as a double platform for ÖBB and the underground, connected by escalators, stairs and elevators fixed.

The connecting structure extending from the Neuhaufenstraße (southern exit of the ÖBB railway platform ) to Konstanziagasse (northern exit of the U2 train platform ). The metro station Stadlau is also the highest station in the Vienna U- Bahn network.

Traffic station Archduke Karl Strasse

In the north of the rail system is the traffic station Archduke Charles Street. It is in high position on the Archduke Charles Street, parallel to the highway Südosttangente Vienna ( A23). Just south of the station, the road leading into the wine district of the Eastern Railway bifurcates into the northern line to Laa an der Thaya and the eastern line to Marchegg. The station is equipped with one double platform for Laa and the Eastern Railway Marchegger However, only the latter will be used. Here keep the S80 and the regional train Marchegger Eastern Railway. Under the Station is in the course of the underpass Archduke Karl-Straße underground stop of tram line 25, which is also served by bus line 26A and regional buses.

Configuration

At one supporting pillar on the east side of the station building since 2010, the figure " Nepomuk " the Tyrolean artist Werner Feiersinger. It refers to the bridge Saint John Nepomuk (around 1350-1392 ) and corresponds to the silhouette of the figure Nepomuk on the Charles Bridge in Prague. The figure has been sculpted by the ironwork boxwood in Waldhausen, Upper Austria stainless steel and painted red of celebration Singer.
