Waldhausen im Strudengau is a market town in the district Perg in the Lower Upper Austria Upper Austria with 2892 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The competent District Court for the judicial district Perg since 2003 ( previously the former district court Grein ) counting municipality is located in Perg

Geography

Waldhausen im Strudengau is situated at 470 m altitude in the Upper Austria. The expansion is 8.3 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 11.9 km. The total area is 46.7 km ². 52 % of the area is forested, 43.7 % of the area is used for agriculture. 1973 Sarmingbach was dammed above the pin Waldhausen and created approximately 3.5 to 4.5 hectare lake Waldhausen.

History

Originally in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria lying, was the place since the 12th century the Duchy of Austria. Since 1490 he is the Principality ' Austria above the Enns ' attributed. During the Napoleonic Wars, the place was occupied several times. Since 1918, the town belongs to the province of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on 13 March 1938, the town belonged to the " Upper Danube ". After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria.

Coat of arms

Official description of the municipality coat of arms: In black on green Dreienberg a silver, chapel -like building with two black windows open on the long side, and just such a round-arched door and a small window on the front, red considered and on the two gables, each with a golden cross sullied; flanked right and left of each a green conifer. The municipality colors are green, yellow and red.

Culture and sights

  • Former pin Waldhausen: 1147 built in 1786 abandoned by Joseph II
  • Collegiate Church Waldhausen: 1647-1680 built in early Baroque style by the famous architect Carlo Canevale impressive, equipped with stucco and frescoes, bright, light-filled from side windows church; from 1669, there is a 19 m high altar in black and gold of the master carpenter Paul Deniffl from Passau. The church houses the so-called Waldhausener mummies that are not publicly available.
  • Upper Austrian Provincial Exhibition: The National Exhibition 2002 was held under the motto "Celebrate fixed" from May 1 to November 3, 2002 in Pen Waldhausen instead.
  • Castle ruins Säbnich

Regular events

  • Organ Concert Music for Christmas takes place annually on 8 December in the collegiate church of Waldhausen instead.
  • Waldhausener Advent: the Waldhausener Advent Advent is a market which takes place every year on December 8 ( last from 4 to December 8, 2010 )
  • Seefestspiele Silva Waldhausen, self-proclaimed smallest Seefestspiele Austria (since 2005)
  • The Strudengauer fair is held annually on the weekend after the 15th of August.
