The city gate is a building designed by the architectural firm Petzinka, Overdiek and Partners office building in Düsseldorf's Unterbilk. It is the headquarters of the North Rhine - Westphalian Prime Minister in the government district and is the regional capital. The building with a height of 72.55 m and 20 floors above ground was built in the years 1992 to 1998. The inauguration took place on 8 May 1998. Several private companies have office space rented at the city gate, consultancies including global. In addition, is since 29 March 1999, the State Chancellery of North Rhine -Westphalia in the city gate. On the initiative of the then Prime Minister, Wolfgang Clement, the former, about 500 meters away location of the State was abandoned and rented premises in the middle floors of the city gate.
