The season, as seen from the northeast to the Rauthof

The season is dominated on its southern side by about 800 meters, a 1532 meters high mountain in the Bavarian Alps, the valley and village Jachenau. He was a so-called Nunatak, who stood out about 100 m from the ice stream with its peak during the Würm glaciation.

The flanks of the pyramid-shaped mountain is wooded to the summit region. Only on the south side can be found in the pastures distinct light pastures. The incurred as a result of the storms Vivian and Wiebke in February 1990 large barren areas in the north flank were initially increased in the following years by bark beetle infestation; but now planting and natural regeneration have improved the economic situation of forest. The geology of the season on the north side of Solnhofen and the south side of the main dolomite, the boundary just south of the summit of West runs to east.

Because of its isolated location offers excellent views of the Season Karwendel and weather stone and stunning views down the Jachenau. The mountain is considered to be easier and more popular - suitable for families - Excursion summit. South-facing below the summit lie at about 1400 m, the two unstaffed huts of Staffelalm.
