Stainless Games

Stainless Games Ltd. is a British games developer based in the Isle of Wight, which has specialized primarily on games for Xbox Live Arcade. Stainless was known primarily for the Carmageddon series.

History

In 1993, the company was founded as Stainless Software by Patrick Buckland and Neil Barnden. 1995 Stainless wrote the first contract for a full-price game in which SCi (1997) was published under the name Carmageddon two years later. Due to the enormous success of the first work Stainless began with the development of Carmageddon II and published the game in 1998.

1999 Stainless development team was incorporated into the VIS entertainment group. 2001 was finally Stainless Games Ltd. founded as a spin- VIS Group.

After the publisher SCi commissioned another development studio with the development of the third part of Carmageddon and the game fell through with the critics, this also had a very negative impact on the game series and Stainless Games. In the following years, the company completed especially commissioned works. As recently as 2009 were achieved with the download title Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers a new success, the title became the fastest-selling game to date on Xbox Live Arcade. 2011, the rights to the Carmageddon series from Square Enix to buy back succeeded.

2012 Stainless Games released a conversion of Carmageddon for iOS mobile devices. Currently (2013 ) the company is developing the game Carmageddon: Reincarnation for next- generation consoles. But could 2012 on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter already has 625,000 U.S. dollars are collected from supporters. In March 2013 we secured an additional 3.5 million dollars from Les Edgar, the former founder of Bullfrog Productions and present shareholders of Stainless Games.
