Stan Stearns

Stanley Frank Stearns ( born May 11, 1935 in Annapolis, † March 2, 2012 in Annapolis ) was an American photographer.

Stearns was the son of William and Lillian Stearns. His parents operated a jewelry business. He began at age 16 to work as a photographer. Stearns worked for four years at the United States Air Force as a photographer for the newspaper The Stars and Stripes. He was a press photographer of United Press International ( UPI) At the end of the Presidency Eisenhower. His black and white recording of the three-year son President John F. Kennedy, Jr., who saluted on November 25, 1963 at his father's coffin was known worldwide. The image became a symbol of the helplessness of an entire country in light of the assassination of the U.S. president. In the 1970s, Stearns opened in Annapolis in Washington a small photo studio. In 2012, he died of lung cancer.
