Stanhope, County Durham
Stanhope is the name of a town in the north of England County Durham. It lies on the River Wear in Weardale. The A689 meets here on the B6278 from Barnard Castle to Shotley Bridge.
The municipality Stanhope itself extends over a large area and includes both the places Rookhope, Westgate, St John 's Chapel, Ireshopeburn, Wearhead, Cowshill, Cornriggs, Eastgate, Frosterley, all located on the A689, as well Crawleyside, Hill End and White Kirkley.
The area is very interesting for hikers, as the grazing areas have formed a moorland for sheep, crisscrossed by streams, is very appealing. The Pennines, in which Stanhope is, regarded as one of the most charming landscapes of England.

The main village is located in Stanhope Weardale between Eastgate and Frorsterley. Nearest towns are Newcastle upon Tyne, Bishop Auckland and Barnard Castle.
