Stare Koźle

Alt Cosel (Polish: Stare Koźle ) is a town in Upper Silesia. Alt Cosel located in the municipality Birawa in powiat Kędzierzyńsko - Kozielski ( county Kędzierzyn - Cosel ) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship.

Alt Cosel is located four kilometers north of the parish seat Birawa, 5 kilometers south of the county town of Kędzierzyn -Koźle ( Kędzierzyn - Cosel ) and 45 kilometers southeast of the Opole voivodship.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1223.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 414 voters voted to remain in Germany and 236 for Poland. Alt Cosel remained with the German Reich. By 1945, the place was in the district of Cosel.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Koźle in starlings and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the newly founded city of powiat Kędzierzyńsko - Kozielski. On 23 April 2007, the German Stare Koźle was in the community Birawa, plays, introduced as a second official language.

On 10 January 2011, the City also received the official German place names Alt Cosel.
