Starsailor (band)

Starsailor is a company incorporated in Wigan (England) 1999 British band. She plays melodic Britpop and was named after a 1970 album of the singer Tim Buckley.

Band History

There were singers like Neil Young and Nick Drake, who led the Starsailor singer James Walsh to form a band. So the band was formed in today's occupation during his music studies. Only later came the keyboardist Barry Westhead and completed the band. In April 2000 the band performed for the first time in London and was subsequently courted by many record companies. Finally, it was EMI in which you signed. 2001, the first two singles Fever and Good Souls came out, which both reached a place in the top 20. With the follow-up single Alcoholic you even came up in the top 10

Star Sailors debut album Love Is Here was released in October 2001 and sold quite successfully. Two years later, the follow-up album Silence Is Easy came on the market, which could confirm the commercial success of their debut album. This contained two songs produced by Phil Spector, and they had four to the floor an internationally successful single release.

In 2005 they released their third album On the Outside and performed on several concerts as opening act for U2. In 2006, she joined two Germany - concerts by the Rolling Stones on as the opening act. End of August 2006 toured Starsailor, as with the concerts in 2005 assisted by Richard " Echoboy " Warren (vocals, guitar, harmonica ), for the first time in the USA.

After their less successful fourth album All the Plans announced frontman James Walsh 2009, a time out of the band in order to concentrate on his own projects.
