STC Görlitz

The STC Görlitz was a German football club from Görlitz in the Silesian Upper Lusatia. It was founded in 1906 and existed until the end of World War II.

History

The club was founded on 1906 as SC Preußen Görlitz and was a member of the East German Football Association. Around 1918 it was renamed the sports and gymnastics club Görlitz. 1911, 1912, 1913, 1914, 1921, 1927 and 1933 was the club champion Oberlausitzer, reaching participation in the Southeast German finals.

1933 and 1939 reached the summit in the Gauliga Silesia, but this was followed by each of the direct descent. 1943, the club rose to the Gauliga Lower Silesia, reaching in their last season in the group Görlitz fifth place in the table. A game operating in the 1944/45 season is not known. With the war ended in 1945, the club went out.

Venue

As venue of the STC Görlitz South sports court with 4,000 seats is handed on Schenkendorff Square in the Oststadt.
