Stefan Niesiołowski

Stefan Konstanty Myszkiewicz - Niesiołowski ( [ stɛfan ɲeɕɔwɔfsk ʲ i]? / I, born February 4, 1944 in Kałęczew ) is a Polish politician, Platforma Obywatelska ( Civic Platform ). He was a member of Solidarity and 2007-2011 Vice - Marshal of the Sejm.

Life

Niesiołowski studied at the University of Łódź biology, and earth sciences. He completed his studies from 1966 and was a lecturer at the university. In 1979 he received his doctorate and his habilitation in 1990. Since 1995 Stefan Niesiołowski is Chair of invertebrates and Hydrobiology of the University of Łódź.

Stefan Niesiołowski is married and has one child.

Political Activities

In 1965 he was co-founder of the secret organization Ruch. These fought for the independence of Poland by the Soviet Union and accepted the People's Republic of Poland not as a legal representative of Poland. On 20 June 1970 he was arrested and sentenced on 20 April 1971 by Province Court in Warsaw to 7 years in prison for preparing the violent abolition of the socialist system. On September 24, 1974 he was released early from prison due to an amnesty. In 1975 he was one of the signatories of a letter to the Sejm, who opposed the constitutional amendment that would enshrine constitutionally including the socialism, the leading role of the Party and the friendship with the USSR. In 1977, he joined the Ruch Obrony Pravda człowieka i Obywatela at ( movement to protect the human and civil rights ), and was the author of the independent magazine Opinia ( opinion ). In 1980 he became a member of Solidarność and was a founding member of the operating committee of the trade union at the University of Łódź. On 13 December 1981 the day of the declaration of martial law, he was arrested and interned in a camp in Jawor in Kalisz Pomorski. On December 1, 1982 ended his detention.

After the political changes in Poland, he was from 1989 to 1991 from the list of Solidarity representative in the Sejm. In 1989, he was also a founding member of the Zjednoczenie Chrześcijańsko - Narodowe ( Christian National Union). For this he was then from 1991 to 1993 and from 1997 to 2001 the Akcja Wyborcza Solidarność in Polish parliament. He became a member of the newly formed Platforma Obywatelska ( Civic Platform ) and 2005-2007 member of the Senate in 2005. In the early parliamentary elections in 2007 and parliamentary elections in 2011, he took up for the Civic Platform on in the constituency 8 Zielona Góra and could each win a mandate.

Awards

The Polish government in exile, bestowed the award Niesiołowski Knight of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
