Stefan Schmitt (politician)

Stefan Schmitt ( born September 19, 1963 in Berlin, † 14 April 2010) was a German lawyer and politician Hamburg (SPD).

Life and Politics

Stefan Schmitt studied law and worked since 1991 as an attorney with the law firm Wied, Schmitt and partners. In 1991 he received his license as a lawyer before the Hamburg District Court and since 1996 in front of the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court. His research focused on labor and tenancy law.

From 1991 to 2001 he was a member of the District Assembly Harburg. In February 2008 he was able to move in the state election over the national list of the SPD in the Hamburg Parliament. For his group, he was a member of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Constitutional and District Committee. In addition to its party political involvement, he was a member of the Workers' Welfare and the union Ver.di.

Stefan Schmitt fell ill in 2009 from leukemia. He died on April 14, 2010.
