The Steinbach at Kleinostheim

The Steinbach is a right tributary of the River Main in Kleinostheim in the Bavarian Spessart. It rises as tension trench above the hamlet of John Berger Steinbach.

Course

From the eponymous district of the creek is named Steinbach. This flows into the narrow Steinbach, where you suspect the former location of the Menze mill. There flows from the right to Rossbach. A few hundred meters further honors on a rock wall next to the brook, the so-called " Jahn Rock", a blackboard the Jahn.

At the bottom of Steinbachtals is the " Tesch cave ". It is the remains of a quarry, was broken in the basalt. This basalt filled a volcanic vent, which was formed about 43 million years ago. The eruption broke through a time is not yet removed layer sandstone.

In Kleinostheim of Steinbach is now completely piped and flows near the truck tank farm in the Main.
