Steinberg (Lower Bavaria)

View from Stone Mountain of the Alps

The Steinberg is a 830 meters high, wooded hill in the southern Bavarian forest between the villages Büchlberg, Forest churches and Hauzenberg. About the Summit is the boundary between the district of Passau and the Freyung -Grafenau.

At the top of Stone Mountain, which is accessible via a paved, public road, there is a mountain restaurant and an observation tower that allows a comprehensive panorama. In Föhneinfluss the view extends to the chain of the Alps from the Dead Mountains to the Kaiser Mountains. Of course, some trails lead from the surrounding villages on the mountain that is a popular destination on weekends for the locals.
