Steinheim ( Main), or Steinheim / Main, is a breakpoint in Hanau at km 69.9 of Südmainischen S -Bahn S-Bahn Rhein- Main.

Location and description

The breakpoint is located on the S- Bahn line ( DB-Strecken-Nr. 3680 ) from Frankfurt to Hanau, the parallel here to Frankfurt- Bebra railway ( DB-Strecken-Nr. 3600) runs. The S- Bahn line is here - as a whole between Mülheim ( Main ) Teodone and Hanau Hauptbahnhof - single track. The only platform is located northeast of the track and is served by trains in both directions. The platform is located on the side facing away from Steinheim side of the track, a somewhat unusual arrangement, which is caused by the leadership of the route on the immediately east adjacent to the breakpoint Steinheim Main bridge and turn thereto immediately subsequent threading of the track in the Hanau main station the plant. The breakpoint went along with the opening of the S -Bahn in 1995 in operation and is now approached from the S 8 and S 9.

History

It replaces the former train station Steinheim ( Kr Offenbach), the (here with the chainage 21.1 ) were in the same place at the Frankfurt- Bebra railway and in 1873 went into operation. His original name was Klein Steinheim. However, the station building was located on the southeastern side of the tracks. The railway system also had a freight track with goods shed for the local transport.

The station served the former town of Steinheim ( Kr Offenbach) was slammed in 1974 in the course of municipal reform in Hesse the city of Hanau.
