Stelian Popescu

Stelian Popescu ( born February 19, 1874 in Lacu Turcului, Romania, † 1954 in Spain) was a liberal journalist and Minister of Justice of King Carol of Romania.

Life

From 1916 to 1943 he headed the magazine Universul.

Despite accusations of embezzlement ( as an entrepreneur ) and torture ( during his tenure as Minister of Justice of Romania ) Popescu remained politically influential. In 1936, Victor Eftimiu in his tell-all book about Stelian Popescu:

1945 accused Stelian Popescu his daughter- Maria Popescu, they wanted to poison him with veronal.
