Universul

Universul ( German: the universe ) was Romania's first focused on broad readership daily.

The newspaper was founded on August 20, 1884 by the Italian journalist Luigi Cazzavillan. According to self-description and politically independent, she was classified according to modern journalistic principles and aimed at the common people. So the language was deliberately simple, and they had " In brief " sections. The newspaper sold up to 80,000 copies and became the market leader among the Romanian mass media.

1903 took over Cazzavillans widow Theodora Cazzavillan the newspaper, 1909, whose new husband Dimitrescu Campina. 1916-1943 Stelian Popescu had held the line.

Universul existed until 1953.
