Stelios Kazantzidis

Stelios Kazantzidis (Greek Στέλιος Καζαντζίδης, born August 29, 1931 † 14 September 2001) was one of the most popular Greek singers of the 20th century. He sang his most popular songs in the style of " rebetiko " and " Laiko Tragoudi ". In his songs he sang mostly about the sufferings, sorrows, the fate, but also the joys and loves the people.

His life

The son of a Pontian refugee family in the Athens district of " Nea Ionia " grew up, he was already at the age of 14 years, after the death of his father, forced to work in construction and in different factories, so miternähren his family. His military service he completed on the island Makronissos.

One day he gave his boss, thrilled by his voice, a guitar. From this point on he spent every free minute with playing songs on his guitar and to sing.
