Firewheel ( Stenocarpus sinuatus )

The Firewheel ( Stenocarpus sinuatus ) is a flowering plant in the family of the silver tree family ( Proteaceae ). It is native to eastern Australia and is used as an ornamental plant.

Description

The Firewheel grows as evergreen tree that can reach heights of growth of about 10 to about 20 meters and is very slow growing. The upright stems have a thick, is smooth and reddish- brown bark. It is formed a dense crown. The against-constant leaves have a length of up to 30 inches, are glossy dark green and hairless.

His bright orange - red flowers that stand together in doldigen inflorescences with a diameter of up to 10 centimeters, he owes the trivial names Firewheel (after English " firewheel -tree "). The woody crops are oval in a length of 5 to 10 centimeters.

Dissemination

The natural range of the Feuerradbaumes are the rainforests in eastern Australia, in northeastern New South Wales and eastern Queensland.

Cunn. ex Loudon in Loudon 's Hortus Britannicus. A catalog ..., Suppl 1, 1832, S. 580, which was never validly published, and thus is not an official basionym.
