Stepan Smolensky

Stepan Vasilyevich Smolensky (Russian Степан Васильевич Смоленский, scientific transliteration Stepan Vasil'evič Smolenskij; * 8 ​​Augustjul / August 20 1848greg in Kazan, .. .. † 20 Julijul / August 2 1909greg in Wassilsursk ) was a Russian composer, church musician and musicologist.

Smolenski was, inter alia, served as a director of the Moscow Synodalschule and as professor of church music at the Moscow State Conservatory. Among his most famous students include Sergei Rachmaninoff and Pavel Grigoryevich Chesnokov.
