Stephan Brenninkmeijer

Stephan Brenninkmeijer (* June 27, 1964 in Door Werth ) is an award winning Dutch film director, producer and author.

Life and career

Brenninkmeijer was born in Castle Door Werth in the Netherlands and grew up. At the age of eight he moved with his family to Apeldoorn. From 1988 to 1992 he studied at the Dutch Film Academy in Amsterdam.

Although it was his goal to be directing feature films, he began the first section. 1992 started his professional career in which he worked for television series and movies as an editor and worked with directors such as Academy Award winner Mike van Diem. From 1994 he directed some television series. In 2000 he directed The Silence of the Soul, who won the award Golden Crown Award at ICVM Festival in Atlanta (USA ). In the same year he co-directed with the television series West Wind, which won the Dutch equivalent of the Golden Globe.

In 2002 he produced his first feature film Swingers - Indecent weekend, in which he also served as a director and writer. Swingers is a low-budget film, which was shown in the Benelux countries in the cinema and was sold internationally.

2011 he was the director, producer and author of Caged.
