Stephen du Perche

Stephen of Perche (actually of Le Perche; French Étienne du Perche; * after 1137, † 1169 ) was Chancellor of the Kingdom of Sicily ( 1166-1168 ) and elec- Archbishop of Palermo ( 1167-1168 ).

He was probably a son of Count Rotrou III. Le Perche.

He was asked by his relatives Margaret of Navarre to Sicily, as this 1166 the regency took over Sicily. Stephan intention at this time to undertake a crusade to the Holy Land and came to the prompt. Once there, he was appointed chancellor in 1166 Margaret of Sicily and let him choose 1167 as Archbishop of Palermo. At the Sicilian court he came, among others, Matheus from Salerno in conflict, and was dismissed in 1168 after some unrest of office and forced into exile.

Stephen then went to the Kingdom of Jerusalem where he died soon became seriously ill and 1169. He was buried in Jerusalem.
