Stephen Gould (tenor)

Stephen Gould is an American tenor. He is from Virginia, studied at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and was then a member of the junior program of the Lyric Opera of Chicago ( Lyric Opera Center for American Artists). Gould sang alongside first operatic roles in the musical The Phantom of the Opera, before he was able to prevail as a heroic tenor. His debut in this subject he gave as Florestan in Beethoven's opera Fidelio.

Gould is one of the most sought after Wagner singers worldwide. Siegfried in Wagner's Ring he sang, among others at the State Operas in Vienna and Munich, and from 2006 to 2008 at the Bayreuth Festival. Here he made his debut in 2004 as Tannhäuser, and is also provided in 2015 as Tristan in Wagner Katharina staging.

His repertoire includes roles such as Siegmund ( Die Walküre ), Paul ( The Dead City ), and the title roles in Lohengrin, Parsifal and Otello, but also the Gurrelieder of Arnold Schoenberg and the tenor soloist in Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
